DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
A vision for conservation and education

Hemant Patil,IFS
Director, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park
Welcome to Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, a sanctuary where conservation, education, and recreation come together to create meaningful connections between people and wildlife.
As the Director of Patna Zoo, I am honored to lead an institution that has been a cornerstone of Bihar's environmental education and conservation efforts for over five decades. Our zoo is more than just a collection of animals; it is a living classroom, a conservation center, and a place where memories are made.
In today's rapidly changing world, zoos play a critical role in wildlife conservation. At Patna Zoo, we are committed to providing the highest standards of animal care while contributing to global conservation efforts through our breeding programs, research initiatives, and public education.
Our focus on native species of Bihar and Eastern India reflects our commitment to regional conservation. By showcasing the incredible biodiversity of our region, we hope to inspire visitors to appreciate and protect the natural heritage that belongs to all of us.
Education is at the heart of our mission. Through our various programs, we strive to foster a deeper understanding of wildlife and the environment, especially among young people who will be the stewards of our planet in the future.
As we look to the future, we are excited about enhancing visitor experiences while advancing our conservation goals. Our ongoing projects aim to create more naturalistic habitats for our animals, improve accessibility for all visitors, and expand our educational offerings.
I invite you to explore our zoo, learn about the fascinating animals in our care, and join us in our mission to protect wildlife and wild places. Your visit supports our conservation efforts and helps ensure that future generations will continue to share our planet with the remarkable diversity of life that makes Earth so special.
Thank you for your interest and support. We look forward to welcoming you to Patna Zoo.
