Future Plans and Way Forward

Through consistent efforts by the zoo team over a period of time, in recent MEE exercise (2022) conduced by Central Zoo Authority, the Patna zoo got 4th ranking in large zoo category and overall ranked 6th in the country. In pursuit of achieving excellence in animal health care, ever growing connect with visitors, adopting to best management practices, the Patna zoo has chalked out a summary of proposed plans and vision.

Revamping of Famous Toy Train

The defunct zoo toy train will be revamped with advanced features like a see-through roof, fountain tunnels, and an audiovisual experience.

Construction of a Bird Paradise

Patna Zoo's new 5-acre walk-in aviary will adopt eco-friendly designs inspired by Singapore's Mandai Bird Paradise to enhance bird habitats.

Renovation of Jal Udhyan

Jal Udhyan in Patna Zoo needs renovation and expansion, adding fountains, aquatic plants, and more features in the available area.

Renowned Foreign zoos

Patna Zoo plans an endangered species exchange with top foreign zoos, enhancing conservation and healthcare for gorillas, zebras, and chimpanzees.

Construction of Food Court

The zoo's food amenities are below standard. A food court is planned near Gate 1’s parking area to serve visitors and locals.

Dolphin Interpretation center

Patna Zoo will establish a state-of-the-art interpretation center for Gangetic Dolphins within its Machli Ghar (Aquarium) premises in Bihar.
